Boston’s perspective 2024 Summer Olympics bid announced another major addition on Thursday afternoon, adding Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s chief of operations and administration, Joe Rull. Rull, who has been in his current job with the city since Walsh became mayor in 2014, will join Boston 2024 as the new Chief Administrative Officer.

According to a report from the Boston Herald, Rull’s salary will increase from $150,000 to $175,000 as a result of joining the Olympic bid. The 38-year-old will begin in his new role on Monday (February 9th).

Here’s what the Mayor said in a statement released from Boston 2024 regarding Rull’s new appointment:

Joe has an unmatched understanding of Boston and the needs of the neighborhoods and I am confident that his experience will serve as a great asset for Boston 2024. In addition to hosting the greatest athletes in the world and inspiring another generation kids to be active, the Games presents an opportunity to improve our housing opportunities, transportation system and general infrastructure in ways that will benefit the City for decades after the Games occur. Joe has done amazing work for the City already and I know he will continue to serve our residents well in this new role.

Originally from South Boston, Rull will provide another familiar figure near the top of Boston 2024. In January, the bid named former Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Richard Davey as its head.

For those interested, the first community forum for residents to discuss the Olympic bid with officials happens tonight at Suffolk University Law School (120 Tremont Street), starting at 6:30 p.m. Here are the other meeting times.
