MBTA GM Scott Letter

The following statement is attributed to MBTA general manager Beverly Scott, who met with Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito and transit officials Thursday:

It was a pleasure to meet Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito today. In a substantive meeting which included our top operating personnel, we had a serious conversation with Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito about the issues facing our aging transit system. The Governor was very focused, and we were pleased to share information that will help him make decisions as we chart a course for improving public transportation. I’m convinced that today’s meeting will be remembered as the start of something very good.

On Wednesday, Scott announced her resignation, effective April 11, in a letter addressed to the chairman of the state Department of Transportation board of directors, John Jenkins.

Scott’s meeting with Gov. Baker took place at 45 High Street, in downtown Boston. The meeting had been scheduled earlier this week, before Scott announced she would be stepping down from her position.
