This has been one of the most brutal winters in recorded Boston history: an endless stream of storms – two of which have been blizzards – has dropped 95.7 inches of snow on the city, and February 2015 has been the second coldest February on record. With more snow in the forecast for Tuesday and another potential storm possibly heading our way this weekend, it would appear, quite tragically, there is no end in sight.

But actually, though. That’s what the National Weather Service says. (Note: anyone who thinks NWS forecasts are written by emotionless computer systems, prepare to have your mind blown.)

Monday morning, this is what NWS wrote on its website, describing the Boston forecast for Thursday into Saturday morning of this week:

So there you have it, Boston. An exceptional amount of “High pressure!” is approaching, and the “snowy/below-normal temperature pattern” the city has dealt with for the last month may continue for the rest of February.

Definitely a February for the record books, for sure.
