For Bostonians, Marathon Monday is a holiday like few others during the year. It’s a public festival, as nearly the entire city makes its way out to the race course to cheer on the field of over 30,000 runners making the trek from Hopkinton to Boylston Street. Of course, if you’re one of the few in the area who is still working, or you’re just not able to make it out, there’s still a way to watch the Marathon online.

The Boston Athletic Association provides a few routes for online live streams of the race. The first is WBZ-TV’s feed, which will be available to Bostonians trying to watch. For the rest of the United States, they can catch the action on the coverage provided by Universal Sports’ website. The BAA also provides a live stream on its own site, with coverage beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Marathon Monday.

All eyes will be on the top competitors like Meb Keflezighi and Shalane Flanagan, as they try to make it a USA sweep of the elite runners’ fields. Still, it’s the everyday runners of the marathon who make it a special event, considering the journeys that they take in the preparation, culminating with their memorable finishes in downtown Boston.

Stay tuned as the race begins and the field gets going.
