The ongoing battle for daily fantasy sports supremacy experienced another major development on Friday, with the announcement that DraftKings will be the presenting title sponsor for the upcoming Belmont Stakes horse race, where the sports world could see its first triple crown winner since 1978.

When thoroughbred American Pharoah takes to the starting gate on June 6, both the gate itself and the race bibs will carry DraftKings advertising, as another sign of growth from the Boston-based startup. And the geography of the Belmont ensures another satisfying moment for the fantasy giant: It’s happening in the backyard of its top competitor, New York-based FanDuel.

The terms of the deal aren’t yet known, but part of the new agreement will ensure access to the winner’s circle at the Belmont for one lucky DraftKings champion, as well as three of their friends.

Pharoah, who won the Kentucky Derby in a hotly contested race, surged to a seven-length win in the Preakness Stakes. In doing so, the three-year-old horse became the 14th to win the first two legs of the famed triple crown of horse racing since Affirmed last won all three in 1978. However, the 13 before Pharoah all failed in the final stage of the Belmont (known to be a longer race than the previous two).
