Fans of the popular gaming series Call of Duty can rest easy as Activision confirmedthat the latest installment, Call of Duty: Ghosts, will be released on November 5. The game is being made for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC though it may also appear on next-generation consoles. TheCall of Duty: Ghosts Masked Warriors Teaser Trailer was released alongside confirming the the Call of Duty: Ghosts release date.
Other than the release date and the knowledge that footage of Ghosts will be displayed at an Xbox event on May 21, little else is known including cast of characters or synopsis.
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said in a press release, “Infinity Ward set the gold standard for first-person action for a generation, and they’re going to do it again with Call of Duty: Ghosts. Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise. Infinity Ward is going all-in to create the next generation of Call of Duty worthy of the world’s greatest fans.”
All week posters and video clips have been leaked and removed from sites, though the teaser trailer offers barely a little more information than what we already know. What we do know is that a certain character pulls down a familiar Ghost mask, assumably some kind of special operations soldier.
Call of Duty is the most popular gaming franchise of all time if measured by revenue by sales numbers alone, though its usually a solid indicator of overall popularity too. Call of Duty: Black Ops II raked in approximately $500 million during its first day on the retail shelves, but after two weeks recorded an astonishing $1 billion worldwide.
