Awards are, almost by their very nature, retrospective. Who had the best month, year, etc. But one of the most exciting parts of the New England Venture Capital Association‘s NEVY awards, announced tonight, was the inclusion of ‘Rising Star’ categories. Tonight we saw not just the best of the best in Boston venture and entrepreneurship. We also got to see who the community thinks will be the next greats.
Among those who took home ‘Rising Star’ crowns in tech were Kinvey founder and CEO Sravish Sridhar, and VC’s Steve Kraus (Bessemer) and Rob Go (NextView). The NEVY Awards also highlighted the best startups, exists, deals and entrepreneurs both in tech and in healthcare. (Full list of award winners below.) But it also functioned as an opportunity to bring the some of the most interesting, successful and – yes – fun folks from the Boston startup scene together in one room.
“The NEVY’s were created to showcase the widespread talent and innovation being developed in our flourishing entrepreneurial hub,” said C.A. Webb, executive director of the NEVCA, in a release accompanying the awards. “Ranging from biotech, to robotics, mobile, big data, enterprise infrastructure, and e-commerce, these awards celebrate the big ideas, hard work, and breakthrough innovations that are building the next generation of successful companies.”
Seeing all those folks together was as much a reason to attend the NEVY’s as the awards themselves. Below, check out the full list of winners.
