Apple just keeps on giving. Not only did Apple begin offering more storage space today for its flagship desktop computer, the iMac, but yesterday the tech giant released an update to its mobile operating system. iPhone 5 users received a pleasant, though rather unnecessary surprise yesterday when this notification popped up on their displays.

As fan site and leak source 9to5mac noted in its article, “Apple has just released a new iOS .1.4 software update for the iPhone 5 that includes an updated speakerphone profile. That’s really it as far as public updates but Apple often updates some stuff behind the scenes including some bug fixes and security updates.” The update is only available for the iPhone 5.

The latest installment in its smartphone series by Apple, the upcoming and highly-hyped iPhone 5S will reportedly sport an even new version of iOS, the iOS 7. Both the iPhone 5S and iOS 7 are expected to make their public debuts to much acclaim at Apple’s widely publicized World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is scheduled to take place on June 10-14 in San Francisco, CA.

Apple users, fans, and enthusiasts alike ought to tune in to the WWDC because A) Apple rarely disappoints and B) they’ll “Get an in-depth look at what’s next in iOS and OS X and learn how to take your apps to the next level,” at least that’s what’s being billed on the events homepage at least.

Let’s hear from the iPhone 5 users out there. Were you impressed with the latest iOS 6 update yesterday? Do you not even care? Will you be looking to upgrade to the iPhone 5S and iOS 7 once they becomes available? Or are you perfectly content with your very capable and handy iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4?
