WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather and challenger Robert Guerrero will take to the scale tonight at 6pm at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV to weigh in before tomorrow’s title bout. The welterweight limit is 147lbs.  The fight is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena tomorrow night at 9pm and will be broadcasted on Showtime PPV. The weigh in is often a highly publicized facet of the fight and popular marketing tool by promoters. Often time, fighters stare each other down nose-to-nose or take the opportunity to sling some trash talk, something  both fighters are accustomed to.

The camp, “Money” Mayweather, stands 5-feet 8-inches tall and as a reach of 72-inches. His fights employing the traditional orthodox stance which seems to work well as Mayweather is hoping to extend his 43-o record (26 wins by KO) and retain his title.

Similarly, “The Ghost” Guerrero stands at 5-foot-8 but is at a slight disadvantage to Mayweather’s 72-inch reach with a reach of 70-inches. The southpaw boasts a 31-1-1 record (18 KOs) and at six years Mayweather’s junior, will hope his age gives him some kind of edge in this 12-round soon-to-be classic.

The weigh in tonight will certainly be one of the most noteworthy in recent memory. Mayweather, known for being controversial and cocky, often keeps his cool when seeing his opponents face-to-face though at a recent press conference Guerrero’s father took to the podium to remind spectators and press that Mayweather served time in prison for domestic abuse. To this, Mayweather simply noted that he served his time and wants to keep the promotions classy.

That’s right, classy. Coming from the man who is known for literally carrying stacks of hundred dollar bills on him and publicly dropping tens of thousands on strippers.

Weigh in promoting was championed by three-time title holder Muhammad Ali who often (and correctly) predicted the outcomes of his matches in the form of clever rhymes and insults.
