LeBron James topped of his spectacular NBA season with not just a near-unanimous MVP award but  also with a just as spectacular looking pair of LEBRON X MVP shoes by Nike. This is King James’ fourth MVP award, in 5 years nonetheless, as he now joins the ranks of legendary all-time greats Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

According to Nike the vibrant almost psychedelic pair of footwear is designed to tell the story of James’ storybook season and commend his most recent accolade. Nike continued on its site,

“It’s a path that has seen him striving for excellence by perfecting his shooting efficiency, assists and rebounds to cut through defense effectively as an individual and as a team. Along the way, James has traveled from the courts of London to the hardwood arena of Miami, achieving victory in an extraordinary 27-game winning streak.”

Though his name didn’t sit atop any statistical category, James’ all-around gameplay wizardry helped Miami win 27 games in a row. James’ average stats per game this season were 28.8 points, 8 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and shot 56.5% from the field as well as 40.3% from beyond the arc. But the streak was helped in part by LeBron elevating his game to a new level, averaging per game 27 points, 8.1 rebounds, eight assists, 1.9 steals and shot 57.5% from the field. He had 15 double-doubles and two triple-doubles in that 27 game span.

The LEBRON X MVP is part of a new marketing campaign by Nike called “Witness History.”  As for what else we’ll see from the campaign is still questionable. Nike’s marketing is usually pretty popular, though, as evidenced by its famed “Just Do It” slogan and Air Jordan line of just about everything. The shoes will be available in limited quantities at select retailers in North America and China soon.

So tell me, who out there is going to buy a pair?
