Sony is looking to build on the success of all its PlayStation consoles by releasing its updated and latest version, the PlayStation 4. With  the Xbox 720 set to launch later this month, it looks like the rival between the two consoles will be reignited. As of now, a slight edge is given to the PS4 because Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag associate producer Sylvain Trottier calls it a “perfect jewel.” Ubisoft also firmly believes that PS4 is going to be released on November 22 of this year which holds true to rumors of a Q4 2013 release.

Trottier continued,

“The beauty of working with Sony honestly on this console for this generation was the fact that it was built for the game developers. And to be really honest, Sony fixed all the issues that could have been there on the console and right now I think it’s up to us; like we have a perfect jewel in our hand. It’s up to us to push the bar and make it shine.”

With such high praise, the PS4 is naturally packing some heavy duty technology under its hood. It will run on a Semi-custom 8-core AMD x86-64 CPU, feature 8GB of RAM,  will be capable of 170GPBS bandwidth, will include a Blu-ray/DVD drive, as well as USB 3.0, Ethernet and Bluetooth.

Among new services for the console, Sony allegedly plans to release the PlayStation App, allowing PS4 owners to turn smartphones and tablets into a second screen for enhanced gameplay.

Though Ubisoft is aiming for a November 22 release of the PS4, Sony has yet to confirm that date or price. But its safe to assume the PlayStation 4 will definitely hit the retail shelves sometime in Q4 2013 just in time for the holiday shopping season.
