A new report by Apple’s largest North American supplier may give an inside look at when the Cupertino-based electronics giant plans to launch its next-generation smartphone. Because Apple is so tight-lipped when it comes to revealing pretty much anything about its products before they’re released, techies and Apple lovers are likely drooling over Avago Technologies claim that the iPhone 5S release date will be in September.

Avago Technologies manufactures the custom wireless chip featured in the iPhone series and received word from Wells Fargo Securities analyst Maynard Um that Apple is poised to release the 5S in September with a huge sales spike in October.

Apple Insider was able to get its hands on a quote from Um in a note to investors,

“Avago noted it is already seeing an initial ramp of a new product transition (we believe iPhone 5S) and expects a greater ramp in the following quarter (October quarter). We anticipate more positive supply chain news from Apple suppliers through the summer and as we get closer to product launch.”

Rumors of a fall release for the iPhone 5S are nothing new but details from named supply chain sources with a specified time frame are. It also falls in line with last year’s release of the iPhone 5.

Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 5S at its WWDC showcase on June 10. Though it has yet to openly confirm any of the leaked specs and photos running rampant around the internet, it has confirmed that the updated mobile operating system for its next-gen line, iOS 7, will ship in time for the conference which means it has to be displayed on some kind of device.

From hints dropped by the likes of industrial design head Jony Ive point to iOS 7 having a UI that’s easily navigable, user-friendly, and uncharacteristically flat. As for the iPhone 5S itself, specs are thought to detail a 4-inch retina display with double the pixels of the current iPhone 5. Other than the fact that it will run on iOS 7, little else is known.

Stay tuned for the latest information about the iPhone 5S. With the WWDC just around the corner, the rumor mill is sure to fire on all cylinders as more and more bits of information become publicly known.

In the meantime, let’s hear from you. What are you looking for most with the iPhone 5S? Have you heard any rumors about the fabled iPhone 6? Will you definitely upgrade when the iPhone 5S becomes consumer available?
