Also swinging the racket today will be the men’s double semifinals round where No. 1 Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan vs. No. 7 Alexander Peya & Bruno Soares will go on to face the winner of Pablo Cuevas & Horacio Zeballos vs. Michael Llodra vs. Nicolas Mahut.

Last year was a banner year for Sharapova, given that it was her first victory at Roland Garros, and the one that completed her illustrious career grand slam. Azarenka will be no push-over, however, having won four of six matches against Sharapova in 2012 and could play spoiler for Sharapova and her hopes at a French Open title. Keep in mind that Roland Garros is a clay court, the only one in the Grand Slam, and Sharapova bested Azarenka in their only clay court competition.

In this afternoon’s 11am ET bout between perennial power Serena Williams and Sara Errani, Williams will look to take her number 1 seed into the final round as she’s currently the heavy favorite. Errani, like Azarenka, won’t easily be ousted though as she’s won her last two matches against formidable opponents and will try to ride that momentum right through Williams.
