Tsonga will have the majority of the stadium rallying behind him as he tries to be come the first hometown hero to advance to the finals in a quarter of a century. He is one of the few active players on tour to have reached the quarterfinal stage of all four Grand Slams.

Ferrer has yet to an opponent quite of his caliber having cruised his way to the semifinals without losing a single set in the tournament thus far. If he can ride that momentum through Tsonga’s, who upset perennial power Roger Federer to advance, he might stand a shot against one of the other two challengers. However, this is his second consecutive French Open semifinal and his third straight semifinal in a Grand Slam tournament so he’s no stranger to the pressure and hype.

The first match up between Djokovic and Nadal began this morning at 7am ET and is being covered on the Tennis Channel network. The day’s second semifinals stint is being covered by NBC and is thought to begin around 11am ET.

Yesterday, in the women’s singles semifinal meets, both Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, two of the highest-profile names in the game, both advanced to face off in the finals after carrying the number one and two seeds, respectively. Sharapova took two out of three sets to oust Victoria Azarenka from the tournament while Williams handily routed Sara Errani in two quick sets lasting a total of 46-minutes.
