It seems like everybody today loves Apple products. From the all-in-one convenience bestowed in the palm-sized iPhone to the user-friendliness and artistic simplicity of the MacBooks, Apple devices embody the perfect fusion of technology and liberal arts. Well, that’s just the way co-founder Steve Jobs wanted it as he willed his products into existence during his time at the helm of Apple which the public will come to see soon enough. It was announced this morning that the biopic ‘jOBS’ starring Ashton Kutcher will be released on August 16.

The flick stars Ashton Kutcher in the title role as a young, enterprising Steve Jobs who, along with the help of his awkward friend Steve Wozniak, played by Josh Gad, takes the foundation of personal computing and drives it to a global scale in the form of today’s Apple Inc.

The film has garnered significant hype and anticipation, showing just how popular and influential the late Jobs actually was, and will launch just over two months ahead of the two year anniversary of his passing.

Chosen as this year’s curtain closer at the annual Sundance Film Fesitval, jOBS has received only so-so reviews so far. Though only seven critical reviews have been written to date, Rotten Tomatoes gives the fim a 43% approval rating though, conversely, the audience gives it a more-than-acceptable 87%.

Josh Gad has played the nerd role to a tee for years so he’ll likely do just fine as the unsuspecting, bumbling friend/mentor/co-founder to Jobs. But the real question is whether Ashton Kutcher successfully and believably channel the complexities Jobs inherently personified. We all know Kutcher can play loud, outgoing, and even charming, but can he convincingly play awe-inspiring, entrepreneurial, and insatiable? We’ll find out soon enough.

The real Steve Wozniak has already gone on record saying the Joshua Michael Stern-directed movie doesn’t exactly show what really transpired in real life as far as Apple is concerned, though Jobs’s biographer Walter Isaacson will surely attest that perhaps even Jobs himself didn’t, or simply refused, to acknowledge what really transpired in real life.

The movie will be released in August after a four-month delayed pushed it from its April debut, supposedly due to lack of marketing for its release. Check out the trailer below for an early glimpse at jOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher. Let us know what you think.
