This afternoon former President Bill Clinton will be hosting the third annual CGI America meeting in Chicago, IL with the hopes of promoting the recovery efforts for the American economy. This working meeting will consolidate leaders and executives from the business, foundations, non-government organizations, and government sectors to conceive solutions that increase employment, advance access to education, strengthen energy security, and expedite a strategy for business growth and innovation. In December 2013, CGI will host its first CGI Latin America meeting in Rio de Janeiro. Here is the CGI America live stream for you to follow along.

Sessions will take place all day, covering topics ranging from ‘Girls & Women in America’ to ‘Veterans and Military Families’ and will last through tomorrow.

According to President Clinton’s initiative website, “CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 150 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media. To date CGI members have made more than 2,300 commitments, which have improved the lives of over 400 million people in more than 180 countries. When fully funded and implemented, these commitments will be valued at more than $73.1 billion.”

Since descending from the presidency, President Clinton has traveled the world to market his Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation with the intent to strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence.

In 2007, President Clinton launched CGI University, a similar initiative and successful model of CGI to students, universities, and national youth organizations. CGI U includes two days of plenary sessions and hands-on breakout sessions, followed by a day-long service project.

Today’s session will feature working groups until 3pm, a plenary session from 3:30pm until 5pm and will be moderated by Chelsea Clinton, and will wrap up with a social reception with tasting stations and cocktails from some of Chitown’s best restaurants.
