According to MassLive.com, the band’s performance at the first of two sold out concerts at TD Garden “breathed” life into “half a century old” music. BU’s own choir accompanied the Stones on Wednesday on their iconic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”  The song was part of a two hour and 20 minute performance that sounded young but powerful, and was “delivered by men who may have weathered but not withered over the years.” The encore opening of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” featured the Boston University group as one of the local choirs that the Stones have teamed up with on each stop of the 50 & Counting Tour.

Here is Boston University’s Marsh Chapel Choir singing with the Rolling Stones:

The on-campus choir was introduced by Mick Jagger himself and according to BU Today, many of the students like Bethany Saul from Sheffield England, “haven’t completely processed it” yet. They were also kind of nervous and didn’t want to trip “over a wire or [say] something completely embarrassing to Mick Jagger.” Let’s face it though, if you were given the rare privilege of singing with one of the most popular and influential bands in the history of rock & roll, you wouldn’t want to mess it up either. As of yet, there are no reports of tripping on wires or embarrassing comments to Mick Jagger, so it seems that the BU students got their 7-minutes of fame without a hitch. We will see on Friday at 8 p.m. if they can pull off another pitch-perfect performance without being “completely beside” themselves.

The 2013 tour marks the first time the Stones perform “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” with a live choir and fans are willing to pay more than $500 for the occasion. If you’ve got a small fortune lying around and don’t have any plans Friday night, you can find your last minute tickets here.
