Disgruntled iPhone users yearning for Microsoft Office on their handsets can finally breathe a sigh of release. Announced this morning, Microsoft has released Office Mobile for iPhone, which is available today for Office 365 Home Premium and ProPlus subscribers from the iApple. The new development will allow for avid Office users and enterprisers who finally rest easy as they can write, edit, and share documents on the fly.

Office Mobile for iPhone integrates not only the Office capabilities we’ve all grown to know and love, but also SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro for optimum mobile assistance and execution. Users can now access documents saved in the cloud and cross-device edit on the iPhone or Windows 8 devices, tapping into Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint from anywhere.

Consistency is clutch for Microsoft’s newly available app, as they’ve strived to create a similar Office experience one would receive on their desktop. It supports items like charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes which for the user means they’re doc will remain virtually the same on both mobile and desktop platforms.

This consistency is optimized for the smaller 4-inch iPhone screen with features like the Slide Navigator which allows the user to easily scroll through, for example, PowerPoint slides. The Speaker Notes feature aids the user in practicing presentations while on the move. Resume Reading take cues from the cloud as it gives the user the exact spot in a document that they left off at when accessing from their desktop.

As for sharing, Office for iPhone lets the user review comments and suggestions in Word and Excel when working with others and when done, users can save directly to SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro or just send as an email attachment. Sharing has never been so seamless.

If you don’t already have an Office 365 subscription, a great way to try Office Mobile is to sign up for an Office 365 trial. And of course, if you’re already using a Windows Phone you have Office Mobile already installed on your phone.
