In Los Angeles yesterday Christina Aguilera took to the microphone not to sing, but to announce the American Music Awards nominees. The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards will be held on November 18 at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. where Aguilera will also perform. Unlike the Grammy Awards, the AMA results are based on votes by music buyers (that means you too, illegal downloader) which can be cast here.  You can probably guess the nominees already because taken into consideration along with fan votes are airtime play and sales.

The artists with the most AMA nominations are Drake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Usher each with three apiece.

With two nominations are Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, fun., Gotye, J. Cole, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, and Pitbull.
