Boston certainly has a plethora of delivery options to choose from. With startups like Caviar and Postmates bringing everything from upscale food to frozen yogurt to our doorsteps, there’s no reason to leave the comforts of our own home.

And now, with the launch of DoorDash in Boston, there’s another convenient delivery startup to add to this already saturated mix. The Silicon Valley-based startup launches today, September 15, in Boston to bring yet another on-demand delivery option to the Hub.

Founded in 2013 at Stanford University, the delivery startup recently raised a $17 million Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital this May.

Currently, DoorDash delivers from over 1,000 restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Los Angeles. Jessica Lachs, general manager of DoorDash, tells us that Boston is the startup’s first East Coast city launch. Fortunately for us, the startup will be delivering food from some of Boston’s best restaurants including Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Fugakyu, Regina Pizzeria, Figs, Root, Cafeteria, P.F. Chang’s and more.

Lachs also shares that the average delivery time between when an order is placed to when the customer receives the food is 39 minutes when using DoorDash. The startup boasts a fleet of over 2,000 drivers who earn around $21 per hour. The startup also enables local restaurant owners to offer a delivery option in a more cost-effective way while also helping to “expand their customer base,” according to Lachs.

To celebrate their Boston launch, DoorDash will be offering free deliveries this month from more than 100 local Boston restaurants. Customers can place their DoorDash order online or through their mobile app. Check here for more information about DoorDash and its offerings.
