What would normally be an event full exhilaration and spectacle ended in tragedy and devastation. On Sunday evening it was reported that two skydivers out of Cape Cod were killed after striking a building.

Though the jumpers’ names have yet to be disclosed, the Boston Globe is reporting that Barnstable police say the two skydivers, who made the leap in tandem, overshot their landing and instead their experience sadly ended near Race Lane in Marstons Mills.

WCVB is reporting that the building appears to have been a garage.

“It is very sad,” Barnstable Police Sergeant David Myett told the Globe by telephone. “But we don’t have many details.”

What we do know is that they died at approximately 5:20 p.m.

CBS Boston says that both of the skydivers were transported to Cape Cod Hospital and that the Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating.
