FundingFest: 21 Key Boston Startup Deals in Q4

Despite the holidays, the fourth quarter turned out to be a busy one for Boston-area companies in the software and hardware arenas.

Out of the dozens of local tech deals disclosed during the quarter, here are our picks for the most notable ones.

Especially interesting deals, IMO, included DataGravity's $50 million raise to redefine our notion of what storage technology can do; Quantopian's $15 million round to introduce a new type of software-driven hedge fund; and Freight Farms' $3.7 million funding to take its novel commercial farming system (inside shipping containers) closer to the mainstream.
