A winter storm watch for Boston was issued on Saturday morning for what The Weather Channel is calling Winter Storm Linus. At around 4:40 p.m., though the National Weather Service upped it to a winter storm watch.

The warning will go into effect Sunday night at 9 p.m., and last until Tuesday at 1 a.m.

According to the NWS, Boston could receive between 8 and 14 inches of snow and gusts of wind between 10 and 20 mph with some that could reach as high as 40. With winds like that come colder temperatures, too. Chills could reach 15 to 25 degrees below zero on Monday night.

There’s been no word yet from City Hall if another snow emergency and parking ban will be enacted, though if it augments into a storm the likes of which we just endured with Juno (24 inches of snow in Boston with some communities reaching 36), it’s certainly not farfetched.

Even if there’s no parking ban, and if Gov. Charlie Baker thinks it wise not to institute a state travel ban the way he did with Juno, the roads will be dangerous. The NWS is expecting hazardous travel conditions with poor visibility and snow drifts especially along the coast.
