If you can believe it, there’s a bright spot in this snowy mess that’s lasted for almost three weeks on end. At 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, a baby was born on the side of Storrow Drive in Boston.

A Revere, Mass. couple was driving to the hospital early Tuesday morning when, according to the Massachusetts State Police, the baby’s father pulled the car over as it was clear that the mother, in labor, would not make it. He stopped near the Mass. Ave. exit and proceeded to call 9-1-1.

Luckily for the parents, a State Police officer was passing by and the father was able to flag down Trooper Patrick Devin, who delivered the baby.

“The trooper relayed to dispatch that the baby had been born safely and wrapped him in a blanket,” notes the State Police news blog. “EMS arrived on-scene and transported the mother to Beth Israel Hospital.”

The State Police is not releasing any further information about the parents or their baby boy at this time though they plan to provide updates as is appropriate.

During Winter Storm Juno at the end of January, a woman managed to get stuck on Route 2 west in Leominster and almost gave birth in her car. State Police arrived on the scene and was able to transport her to the hospital.
