Trying to hop on an MBTA subway train or bus is like playing the lottery at this point. Your chances of catching a mode of public transit that’s both on time and not packed as tight as a can of sardines are as good as finding a four leaf clover in the 1,000-acre spread you bought from the winnings of your Mega Million lottery windfall.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was an accurate and easily-digestible resource at your disposal for transportation service?

Here you’ll find five maps – or really one map that’s been updated four times – that depicts MBTA subway and bus service and the scheduling status of each.

The map series was created by Harvard graduate Cyrus Dahmubed, or @IQubedDesign on Twitter, and shows which routes are currently running and which are down based on the MBTA alerts system.

Though Dahmubed started publishing his maps on Sunday, Feb. 15, they’ll surely come in handy as the MBTA continues to dry and dig itself out of underneath mammoth piles of snow. Service has been interrupted for about three weeks, and will continue to be for at least 30 days more, because the snow and cold have made it almost impossible for trains to grip the third rail and accelerate, for switches to properly function and for buses to swimmingly navigate the streets of Boston.

Disclaimer: We’ll be providing the most up to date versions as soon as they’re published by the designer. MBTA Alerts has real-time updates for users and commuters.
