The Massachusetts State Police are reporting that a woman fell off the Boston University Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers responded to the incident at 11:02 a.m. The BU Bridge, named for the university in 1949, carries Route 2 over the Charles River to Cambridge.

According to the MSP, the woman, 22, suffered serious injuries and was conscious and later when transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

It’s unclear at this time if the woman accidentally fell, purposely jumped or was pushed. The investigation is ongoing.

The bridge has since been cleared of emergency vehicles and personnel, and lanes are now open for travel.

Back in July, a 50-year old man was found dead after it was determined that he fell from the Tobin Bridge. It’s unknown if he, too, jumped or fell.
