Hot off the heels of South by Southwest, we’re not the only ones with our eyes on Texas’s music-happy city. Here’s why you should get into the mix.

#1. The music scene rocks. And not just because of this month’s ten-day SXSW music festival. Grab your cowboy boots and check out the Broken Spoke, the last authentic honky-tonk dance hall in Texas (and, in the words of the New York Times, “arguably the greatest honky-tonk of all time.”)

#2. Austin is a foodie town. Topping your to-eat list? Brisket at Franklin Barbecue. Just be prepared to show up at 8:30 and wait in line with 400 others until the hole-in-the-wall opens at 11. (It’s consistently named the best BBQ in America, so we’d say it’s worth it.)

#3. The street style rivals Brooklyn. Think that perfect mix of hipster and grunge. The style at SXSW is proof that the city’s famous “Keep Austin Weird” slogan applies to more than small businesses.
