If you don’t attend Boston Harborfest, you don’t like America. Okay, a little extreme there I realize. I know you love our country, or at least the parties thrown by Mayor Marty Walsh to celebrate it, so what better way to exemplify your patriotism than Boston Harborfest?

The five-day jubilation, chock full of over 200 events, kicks off at the Faneuil Hall Marketplace on July 2 courtesy of Mayor Walsh, who’s leading the opening day celebrations, and comes to a close on Sunday, July 6.

And while the schedule is teeming with historical tours, lessons, performances and reenactments for people of all ages, our tolerance can only be so tested by the more juvenile items.

After all, this is America and in America we do (drink) whatever we want.

“The Fourth of July holiday week is a special time for the City of Boston. We are excited to kick-off Harborfest and invite everyone to enjoy the sites and sounds of the 2014 festival,” said Mayor Walsh in a statement. “It’s fitting to host the opening ceremony at Faneuil Hall – the cradle of liberty – with its more than 200 years of history right here in Boston.”

To help you enjoy a more age-appropriate itinerary, we’ve gathered seven events where the nectar of the Gods – booze – is being served up, or at least discussed at length. There are only so many times we can chat it up with a person geared up in 18th century garb without feeling the need to indulge in what they would’ve been guzzling at the time.

For the full list of events listed by day, you can check out the Boston Harborfest website here.

I know I’ll be raising a glass or two (ten) for the lovely and alluring Lady Liberty multiple times this week and into the weekend.

I suggest you do the same.
