While it’s hard to believe it’s September, look on the bright side: Summer doesn’t officially end until September 22, which might explain why it’s still 90 degrees outside. It’s prime time to fit in the fun outdoor activities that are still lingering around in this in-between month, before the chill of October sets in and yadda yadda.

So, how can you get out there this month? We have a few big events we think you should get on your calendar, before the weekends come and go and you realize tickets are already sold out. Starting tonight and lasting through September, here’s your must-hit Boston events for the month.

Boston Calling and Octoberfest

September 5-7, City Hall Plaza

It’s back: Boston Calling is taking over City Hall Plaza this weekend, but this time around, it’s not alone. Sam Adams Annual Octoberfest has joined forces with the bi-annual music festival to create one stand-out event of the season. Head over for the lineup – which includes Lorde, Childish Gambino, Nas and The Roots – or the beer hall and German fare. Tickets are still on sale, and you can learn more about what to expect from this year’s festival here.

Taste of WGBH: Food and Wine Festival

September 11-14, WGBH

It’s always the season for wine festivals, and this multi-day event at WGBH combines everything great about good wine and good food. From a gala, a wine auction, to cooking demonstrations and tastings, as well as a farmers market brought in for the occasion, the Taste of WGBH is one way to welcome the fall season of wine and food.

Riverfest

September 13, Assembly Row

Head to the festival that populated Assembly Row before it was built: Riverfest is back for its seventh turn, with as much music, food and activities as before. There will be live music from noon to 9 p.m., food, a retail sidewalk sale, and fireworks over the Mystic River at 8 p.m.

HarborArts Festival 2014

September 20, HarborArts Shipyard Gallery

The event, in its fourth year, invites local artists to set up booths to sell their work as well installations to make the space stand out. There will be food, drink, DJ music and dancing into the night as well.

Battery Wharf Oyster Festival

September 21, Fairmont Battery Wharf

Shuck and slurp oysters for a good cause at the Battery Wharf Oyster Festival, taking place on the water this September.
