Happy Friday! As excited as you are for the weekend, there’s something about this particular Friday that actually makes it even better than most. We’ll give you a few hints: It’s sugary, sweet, and while it will likely end up staining your tongue blue, it won’t cost you a penny. OK, you already read the headline. It’s 7-Eleven Day, in honor of the chain’s birthday, which means the convenience store chain is handing out free small Slurpees all day long. (July 11, 7-11, get it? We hope so.)
Head to your local 7-11 anytime today between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. (presumably because they can’t advise anyone to suck down a Slurpee before 11 a.m.), and fill up your cup with any flavor you choose, or all of them, while supplies last. This year, the company is adding a little extra incentive to their 87th birthday celebration. If you download the 7-Eleven app and text ‘FREE’ to 711711, you can receive updates and keep scoring freebies for the whole week, from July 12 to July 19. A few items on the line include free Twinkies on July 15, free Twix or Snickers ice cream bars on July 16, and another free Slurpee on July 19. In addition to the promotion, the 7-Eleven mobile app has a Slurpee Finder that locates the different Slurpee flavors in your area.
Last year, 7-Eleven upped the free Slurpee day ante when it boosted the free cup size from 7.11 oz. to 12 oz., offering up 42 percent more slurp and slush, if you were wondering. According to USA Today, the chain gave away about 7 million free Slurpees across the country in 2013 – quite the celebration.
