“A Day in the Life” is a series where we’ll profile a variety of residents to get an intimate glimpse into their day-to-day. These are your neighbors. Get to know them.

Entrepreneur, designer and brand strategist Kathryn Yee is blazing the trail for young talents everywhere. The Boston local left her stable Art Director job to launch Bash Studio, a creative event and design studio specializing in social events, weddings and special occasions.

The young designer tells me that starting her own company was really “a leap of faith” but so far, so good – as Yee has already designed a handful of Boston events and weddings, including that of Social Boston Sports CEO Justin Obey and his wife, April Obey of April K Photography. Yee also designed the concepts for the first two Youth Design Fundraisers in 2011 at the Liberty Hotel and in 2013 at the W Hotel.

“My career has naturally led me to create meaningful events for people’s important milestones in life,” Yee tells me. “I’m a designer of events and experiences.”

Here, Yee gives BostInno a glimpse into her busy life as a young entrepreneur and event designer living in Boston.

How do you spend most mornings?

Trying to get in a good breakfast, preparing for my day, and a coffee meeting to talk shop or brainstorm creative ways to collaborate! Or I’m headed straight to my shared office space to hit the ground running. And sometimes the Boston Flower Exchange is an early morning, beautiful distraction.

What are the top priorities on your to-do list right now?

The Bash website is a labor of love and a constant work in progress; preparing for near future collaborations and styled shoots; and finding design decor for upcoming client events. I’m always connecting with like-minded creative entrepreneurs, designers and organizations; building my brand and spreading the word!

What do you love most about being your own boss?

I’m in control and in charge. I’m dedicated to the brand and the growth of my company. I can prioritize the things that I feel are most important. And if I can bring joy, relief and success to my clients – I’m doing what I love.

What is the worst part and the best part about your typical day?

The worst part is that there never seems to be enough hours in one day. It’s a challenge to get to everything you want to accomplish and then try to fit in a healthy lifestyle. The best part is that I get to call the shots and that the blood, sweat, and tears are completely worth it!

If you could impart one piece of advice to our readers, what would it be?

I think the sharing of ideas is critical. Keeping them to yourself only challenges the opportunities we have for our city to be more collaborative, vibrant and more supportive of young, creative businesses.

What’s one TV show you can’t live without right now?

There’s barely time for TV. We cut out cable and found much better uses of our time! (But… Shark Tank, Modern Family and a few other Netfix series are only a click away!)

What would you do if you were suddenly granted a day off from work tomorrow?

Try cycling at the new SoulCycle and book a massage!

If you weren’t answering my questions, what would you be doing instead?

I’m currently in California visiting my family so I’d be picnicking, eating some jamón, fruit and cheese, and playing bocce ball! Having a place to call home on the West Coast gives me an opportunity to recharge and come back with a fresh perspective!
