Happy news for those who live and/or work in East Boston. The Jeffries Point neighborhood is now home to a new soup and sandwich cafe, appropriately named East Boston Kitchen. Eater Boston is reporting that the eatery actually opened June 3, per a previous Twitter post.

The cafe’s Facebook page states that they offer “soup, salads, sandwiches, baked goods and a variety of prepared foods” but the menu changes from week to week. As you can see from their photos, the cafe emphasizes the use of fresh and local ingredients. Just take a look at some of the mouthwatering fare served up at the East Boston Kitchen:

This addition to Jeffries Point is another reason why the neighborhood is one of Boston’s hidden gems. But given the recent developments, this East Boston area may not be so “hidden” for long. After all, well-known North End restaurateur, Philip Frattaroli, is also looking to open a rooftop restaurant, apartment building and yoga studio in the neighborhood. We predict the area’s popularity will only grow.

If you go, East Boston Kitchen is located at 331 Sumner St. in East Boston. They are located two blocks from Maverick Square on the blue line.
