Confession – I rarely leave the North End for Italian food. And when it’s cold outside, just the thought of walking to a different neighborhood for the North End staple food, pasta, doesn’t appeal to me. That is – until I tried Nebo.

The former North End restaurant, owned by sisters and chefs, Carla Pallotta and Christine Pallotta, may have moved to a beautiful Atlantic Avenue location, but the authentic Italian food – that hasn’t gone anywhere.

As I walked into Nebo, I noticed that it was completely packed on a Tuesday night – filled with young professionals imbibing on after-work drinks, girlfriends catching up over dinner and networking abound – it’s truly a fun place to be on a weeknight.

And the food was fantastic. My friend and I decided to try (what felt like) a little bit of everything. We snacked on some antipasti appetizers, sampled the homemade pasta, an entree and (obviously) the pizza (pictures below). Everything was perfectly cooked, sauteed and breaded – but my favorite dish of the night surprised me.

The Budino antipasto consisted of a mild, creamy and slightly-sweet Goat Cheese Panna Cotta. Topped with sweet dates, hazelnuts and honey. The dish was more like an appetizer/dessert hybrid, which was A-Okay with me. Accompanied with crostini, I scooped every last bit of the creamy cheese up – and admittedly, almost licked the plate clean (too bad I was sitting in a fancy, public restaurant).

If you haven’t yet paid a trip to Nebo, I recommend switching up your usual weeknight routine (i.e. Netflix and 2-Buck Chuck wine) for an evening with their homemade pastas and antipasti dishes. You won’t regret it.
