From the article: “On a unit basis, the device isn’t the fastest-selling product. According to Guinness World Records, Microsoft Corp.’s Kinect game accessory took that prize after selling an average of 133,333 units daily in its first 60 days. Apple’s iPhone 4 tallied 120,000, Nintendo Co.’s Wii had 85,000, and the first iPad reached 50,000 a day during their debut periods.”

Today’s iPad 2 release is projected to out-sell the iPad in each device’s first 24 hours on shelves. Apple sold 300,000 of the iPad in 24 hours last year, and analysts project the company to sell 500,000-600,000 iPad 2s in its first 2 days in stores.

How do these iPad sales compare to iPhone sales? Granted the device costs more, but in less than three months the iPad topped $2 billion in sales — something that took the iPhone more than 6 quarters to reach.
