Finally taking place tomorrow, Apple’s September 10 iPhone press event is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. PT/ 1:00 p.m. ET from its headquarters in Cupertino, CA. The event has been highly anticipated by the Apple faithful and tech junkies alike, as Apple is poised to debut its latest two iPhone variants, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, as well as its flagship mobile operating system iOS 7.

Last week Apple dispatched invitations for an event so delightful the invite literally says “This should brighten everyone’s day.” Having not received my invitation yet (must be lost in the mail), I can’t attest to the wave of relief that must’ve surely washed over tech writers’ faces after having reported it would take place imminently with no word coming from Tim Cook and company. Now that we have confirmation and today is the eve of the debut of a new collection of iPhones, we can all breathe a little easier.

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will headline the showcase after iOS 7 was already put on display back at WWDC in June. Both handsets are similar in size and specs, though the 5S will feature a bevy of next-generation features and the 5C is thought to be somewhat diminished.

The iPhone 5S will also carry a 4-inch IGZO display, a 12MP rear-facing camera, dual-LED flash with ƒ/2.0 lens, and a convex home button used to house an authentication fingerprint sensor. Keep in mind that a recent article report thinks the home button will remain concave so be weary. Also be on the look out for 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants and, of course, iOS 7 and all of the features the flagship mobile operating system has to offer.

The iPhone 5C will similarly carry a 4-inch display, upgraded camera, and possible inclusion of the aforementioned fingerprint sensor — but is thought to have a scaled-back iOS 7 to account for its budget-friendliness. Techies are calling for the price of the 5C to run in the neighborhood of $99 with a two-year contract subsidy, but per usual Apple’s philosophy is mum’s the word.

We’ll be live streaming the event from start to finish so be sure to tune in to BostInno for all coverage of all things Apple.
