It’s game day! And there’s no denying that the return of Red Sox baseball brings a certain energy back to Boston’s Fenway and Kenmore Square areas.

And now, it looks like there’s more than one reason to get excited about the neighborhood this spring. The nearby Audubon Circle area is now home to one of Boston’s newest and most highly anticipated restaurants of the season – Audubon Boston.

The folks behind Trina’s Starlite Lounge teamed up to create a new restaurant and bar inside the former Audubon Circle restaurant space. Per the tweet (below), the restaurant is now open – just in time for the Red Sox home opener. And, according to a release, Audubon restaurant plans to “continue the establishment’s deep-rooted commitment and connection to the community” while updating the space with a “welcoming feel.”

Given Audubon’s close proximity to Fenway, the owners (Beau Sturm, J Bellao, Josh Childs and Chef Suzi Maitland) are hoping to connect with the community, serving as a stand-by for neighborhood regulars and Red Sox fans. And given Trina’s strong connection with the Cambridge area, we’re looking forward to seeing Audubon do the same in Boston.

As for food, you can head over to Audubon today to try their new menu. Per a release, some of the fare includes:

  • Grilled Pita with choice of two or five spreads (including Minty Spring Pea, Lemon Garlic Feta, Basil White Bean, BLT, White Anchovy Caper, Roasted Red Pepper, Pimento)
  • Salt and Szechuan Pepper Shrimp with Pear Sauce and Sesame Brocollini Salad
  • Charred Asparagus and Portobello Salad with Greens, Parmesan and Balsamic
  • Whole Grain Salad with Herbed Farro, Bulgur and Barley with Greens and Sweet Curry Vinaigrette
  • Corn Husk Fish with Steamed Vegetables Sticky Brown Rice, Cherry Pepper Chimichurri, Succotash
  • Pea Ravioli with Spring Peas, Crispy Mortadella and Pea Tendrils

And if you’re looking for somewhere to watch the Red Sox home opener, Audubon is the place to be. With their selection seasonal of cocktails, beers and wine, Audubon’s bar is a not a bad place to be. According to a release, the wine list will be “inspired by the same very affordable program put in place at co-owner Josh Childs’ downtown restaurant, Silvertone and will also carry a varied selection of sparkling, white and red wine by the glass.”

The restaurant also includes five flat screen TVs for game watching and will be open for lunch and dinner Monday to Sunday from 11:30am to 12:00am, and Sunday brunch from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The Audubon bar is open every night until 1:00am.

Happy opening day, folks!
