The past week and a half hasn’t been easy on anyone in the Boston area, and as the city makes moves to returning to normal, getting in some laughs can be part of a healthy healing process. If you’re looking for a dose of much-needed comedic relief this week, Parks and Recreation‘s Aziz Ansari is bringing just that to the Wilbur Theater on Sunday, April 28, all for a good cause.

The show, ‘Aziz Ansari – A Benefit for Victims,’ was announced just last night, and as his tweet tells us, tickets will be on sale today at 12 p.m. Each ticket costs $47 ($54.70 after fees), and 100 percent of the sales, excluding the ticketing charges, will go to The One Fund and The Officer Richard Donohue Fund, which was set up by the MBTA Transit Police Benevolent Fund in honor of Richard Donohue, the Transit Police Officer who was critically injured during Friday’s lockdown and now faces a long recovery.

The One Fund, which was created by Governor Deval Patrick and Mayor Menino, has raised $20 million–and counting–for those affected by the marathon bombings. In addition to the donation made from the ticket sales, the Wilbur will be donating $9,500 to the organizations. Andrew Seraphin, a spokesperson for the Wilbur, said that Aziz and the theater wanted to help the people suffering in Boston, so they put together a show to raise money for those affected.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ansari’s stand up, his comedy special Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening is available for streaming on Netflix. Check it out for a hint of what’s in store, along with his tumblr, Aziz is Bored.

Tickets for this show are sure to sell out quickly, so if you want to get in on a feel-good Sunday night for a good cause, head to Ticketmaster at noon. It could be just what the doctor ordered. If you don’t believe me, watch this clip from his stand up special Dangerously Delicious.
