This morning Cambridge-based Backupify announced a product expansion catering to businesses’ ever-growing use of Facebook fan pages to reach the social networking site’s 500 million active users. Boston-area companies who leverage Facebook pages and have large followings should land a free trial of Backupify’s new service, which is being offered for a limited time.

BostInno’s new marketing writer Kristin Dziadul leads Backupify’s marketing and provided us with context for the launch, explaining, “We have talked with many businesses and government agencies who own fan pages and have learned of their strong desire to be able to back up this data in case any of it is ever lost.”

Backupify is already a leader in providing cloud-based data backup and archiving to over 100,000 people. Their product boasts all-in-one archiving, search, and restore features for services like Basecamp, Facebook, Flickr, Gmail, Google Apps, Hotmail, Twitter, WordPress and more. The company offers tiered pricing plans for both businesses (start at $9.95 per month) and for personal use (free backup for one account). Premium plans for both business and personal accounts are offered at $59.95 per month, and include unlimited accounts, 250GB of storage, and access to Backupify’s beta products.

The addition of Facebook fan page backup to the company’s roster expands Backupify’s footprint in being a one-stop-shop for online backup. For businesses and other organizations on Facebook, Backupify mitigates their concerns around data loss and compliance audits. Backupify’s Facebook Fan Page product expansion comes after Facebook’s latest Open Graph API release. On top of backing up news feeds, wall posts, photo albums and messages, the service saves any photos, videos or wall posts even if the original poster deletes the content.

Dziadul went on to share her experience building Backupify, saying, “It’s been very exciting to see Backupify grow it’s product offerings over the past few months alone. Our new Facebook Fan Page backup proves that we are continuously striving to assist businesses – both in the Boston area and world wide – in protecting their online data and comply to data retention and archiving standards.”

Backupify was co-founded in 2008 by Rob May and Vik Chadha, with HubSpot founder Dharmesh Shah as a critical investor and advisor. After raising a million in seed funding from various investors in late 2009 and early 2010 and building their Google Apps integration, Backupify landed $4.5 million Series A led by Avalon Ventures and General Catalyst Partners this September.

Justin Levy, Director of Marketing at Chris Brogan’s New Marketing Labs outside of Boston shared his experience with Backupify in the press release, stating, “In the last few months New Marketing Labs has gained over 1,000 ‘likes,’ bringing us up to over 1,400 fans. These connections are vital to our business … Backupify’s Fan Page backup is easy and cost-effective to use, and provides us with the peace of mind that we won’t lose any of our vital communications and contacts.”
