What characteristics make up a great bartender? No matter your personal style or preferred drinking environment (dark dive bar or posh cocktail lounge) we can all probably agree on three common trails – drink quality, presentation, and personality.
With these traits in mind Sidecar and BostonTweetUp set out to find the best bartender in Boston – starting in North Station. Wednesday, July 31 they are hosting Battle of the Bars at The Harp!
Here’s how it will work:
Bars in the North Station area will send one to two of their star bartenders to compete in a bracket style competition. Bartenders will go head to head in front of a panel of judges – and a bar full of cocktail fanatics! The judges will decide which bartenders advance to the next round based on taste, presentation, creative flair, and audience interaction. There will be three rounds, with a first and second place winner who will advance to the next competition mid-August, more details to come.

So what exactly is a Sidecar – the drink & the company?
Sidecar, the company, is a new on-demand ridesharing app that matches everyday people in their own car with people nearby for shared rides. Lear more or download the app here.
Sidecar, the drink, is a classic cocktail traditionally made with cognac, orange liqueur (we prefer Cointreau), and lemon juice. While these ingredients are universally agreed upon, the proportions are not. This is where bartenders will stand out of the crowd and put their own unique twist on a classic!

The Harp, Porters Bar and Grill, Hurricane O’Rielly’s, The Greatest Bar, Anthem Kitchen + Bar, Sterling’s, and Ned Devine’s Irish Pub.
The event is FREE, but donations are accepted at the door to support The Great American Foundation, a nonprofit organization that collaborates with other organizations to raise money for various causes that affect Boston communities everyday.
