You may have noticed that we’ve become fast friends with Benjamin Moore. And through our friendship with the store and its color & design expert, Andrea Magno, we’ve learned quite a lot: how to paint chevron stripes, what colors to use for which room, the importance of sheen levels, and how to tie rooms together with color. 1. On the at-home gallery:
“To create a backdrop for artwork, photography, and other objects on display, select a color that complements the artwork and does not compete with it. If you prefer a crisp, white gallery look, try Ice Mist 2123-70, a clean white that will allow artwork, particularly colorful pieces, to really pop.”
2. On the bathroom:
“Start your daily routine on the right foot with colors that are soft and flattering – we all want to look in the mirror and feel great!”
3. On lighting:
“Through lighting, the overall mood of a room can be enhanced – soft lighting and tints of color create a soothing look, while deep hues and the light of a great chandelier will add sparkle and richness.”
4. On area rugs:
“An area rug is an excellent starting point when selecting wall color. The wall color will complement the rug and can help to influence the other color choices in the space, such as window-treatment fabrics and accessories.”
5. On complementing furniture:
“When approaching a decorating project, the color you select will become the ‘envelope’ for the space and tie the room together.”
6. On the bedroom:
“Make the bedroom your haven. Surround yourself morning and night with a color that is calming and restful – be sure to select one that makes you feel good.”
