Are you an entrepreneur looking to join an incubator with a big focus on mentorship this summer? According to an updated website, Betaspring, the Rhode Island based startup incubator is now open to application submissions. The incubator provides tech and design entrepreneurs with a 12 week mentor program, in return for their giving up 6-10% of their company common stock.

Betaspring pitches taking teams with new technologies from concept to a fundable company in just 12 weeks. Just what sort of mentorship can you expect? Check out their mentor profiles, featuring 40 entrepreneurs, VCs, and tech and design moguls. As for past Betaspring companies to reach out to and learn more about their experience, check out the fourteen companies listed on the Betaspring website. The list includes DiJiPOP, a company which locked down $1 million in funding this December.

This newest Summer ’11 session will add a physical technologies track, ranging from toys to niche industrial applications like sensors and medical devices. In a blog post the company also added, “Providence, does physical tech quite well, with a thriving industrial design community, a talent base of designers and engineers at RISD and Brown, and a nationally recognized maker movement.”

Betaspring was in the news earlier this month, announcing their introduction to the TechStars Network. This network consists of eighteen independently owned and operated startup incubators across the globe.

David Cohen, Founder & CEO of TechStars, said, “Over the next 3 years, the TechStars Network will ensure that 5,000 successful and experienced entrepreneurs and investors will mentor and support 6,000 promising young entrepreneurs, increasing their success rate tenfold and creating 25,000 new jobs by 2015 and a sustained engine for growing these figures over time.”

Betaspring will help reach these goals here in the Northeast right from Providence, along with TechStars in Boston and Blueprint in New York City.

Betaspring is sponsored by a bunch of Rhode Island business associations, including RI Governor’s Workforce Board, Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and the Providence Economic Development Partnership. You can learn more about the program and applying in their FAQ section.
