There’s room for more than one cook in the kitchen when it comes to “Beyond Bubbie’s Kitchen.”  This weekend, the 5th annual tasting event, put on by the New Center for Arts & Culture, will bring together some of Boston’s best local chefs under one roof.

Each chef presents their own take on traditional Jewish recipes… with a twist. In addition to food tastings, attendees will enjoy a marketplace with local food vendors and a whiskey tasting room. There will also be several cookbook authors present to lend recipes and tips to guests.

Some of the top chefs present at the event will include: Michael Leviton of Area Four, A4, and Lumiere; Jim Solomon of The Fireplace; Irene Li of Mei Mei Street Kitchen; James DiSabatino of Roxy’s Grilled Cheese; Jeremy Kean of Whisk, among others.

As for the food itself, here’s a look at a few of delectable dishes that will be on the menu this year:

Duck Latke with Apple Meringue by Jeremy Kean of Whisk

We’re told that it’s “not your average latke” with a creamy apple meringue.

Guava Challah Bread Pudding Knish by Steven Peljovich of Michael’s Deli

Challah if you want some Guava Challah Bread Pudding – I know, I do! This dish was described as “another creative knish in his line of Krazy Knishes, the guava pays homage to Steven’s Cuban Jewish roots.”

Vegetarian Kishke by Inna and Alex Khitrik of Inna’s Kitchen

This dish is a “creative take on a modern and healthier version of an Ashkenazi classic.”

Shakshuka by Avi Shemtov of The Chubby Chickpea

Chef Avi Shemtov of the Chubby Chickpea will be reinventing his Shakshuka for Beyond Bubbie’s Kitchen. This dish was a “fan favorite” and will be back by popular demand.
