BlackBerry’s woes might still be apparent after it became known that the Canada-based telecommunications company was looking for a buyer or partnership but that doesn’t mean it’s done releasing smartphones. Just today, BlackBerry announced its new 5-inch BlackBerry Z30 handset complete with its BlackBerry 10.2 operating system to go on sale worldwide come the holiday season.

BlackBerry took to its blog today to make its new Z30 known to the world but it was rather vague in release details, only mentioning a worldwide release come the holidays and making no reference to price or U.S. carriers for those here in the States. That being said, it did make mention of most of the new features you’ll be able to enjoy should you opt to buy one. Here are a few things you should know about the new BlackBerry Z30.

Check out the promotional video of the BlackBerry Z30 right here:

The  Z30’s display is a 5-inch AMOLED touchscreen (a far cry from BB’s typical QWERTY keypad), it operates on the 10.2 version of BB’s BlackBerry 10 OS, and the entire device runs on a 1.7 GHz processor with quad-core graphics for optimum multitasking and gaming speeds.

The battery is of the a 2880mAh sort, a respectable but not groundbreaking amount of power, and is BB’s largest handset battery ever willed into existence. BB claims you’ll be able to squeeze 25 hours worth of mixed use out of it.

BlackBerry Priority Hub allows the user to manage all of their messages and notifications, but interestingly it learns along the way to make the experience much quicker and easier. “It collects priority messages across your email, social networking and other accounts and gives you instant access to the conversations most important to you to help you stay organized and focused on the most important tasks.”

BlackBerry Natural Sound makes listening to everything––music, conversations, video––a more visceral experience, making noises sound as though they’re directly engaged with the user. “BlackBerry Natural Sound lets you hear nuances and variations in tone, making conversations sound like you’re in the same room.”

As for the release date, the BB blog notes that BlackBerry 10.2 will be available to download on prior BB devices come October but as mentioned above, the device itself won’t be hitting retail shelves until the end of the year.
