Back in September, we learned (via Boston Restaurant Talk) that downtown restaurant, Blue Inc., had shuttered “temporarily.”

In October, it became apparent that the downtown restaurant, owned by chef (and Hell’s Kitchen runner-up) Jason Santos’, wasn’t going to reopen. Zagat reported that Blue Inc. was permanently closed and that a new concept “without the involvement of Santos” was on the way.

Now, according to Universal Hub, it looks like the new restaurant located at 131 Broad St., could be named Broad Street Riot. The restaurateur behind the new concept, Brian O’Donnell, is requesting to rename the restaurant at a Boston Licensing Board hearing this Wednesday, October 22 at 10 a.m.

Universal Hub reports that the new name “harkens back to the Broad Street Riot of 1837, when drunken Protestant firefighters got into it with Irish Catholic men about to form a funeral procession, sparking a riot that left nearby businesses and homes in ruin.”

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on this new concept in the downtown area. In the meantime, you can still get your Santos fill at his other Boston restaurants, Abby Lane and Back Bay Harry’s, which remain open for business.
