MBTA Blue Line trains between the Airport and Wonderland will be out of service this weekend, Oct. 5-6.

Shuttle buses will be replacing normal train service throughout Saturday and Sunday, due to the Orient Heights Station Project. Shuttle buses will make all scheduled station stops in both directions between the Airport and Wonderland Stations.

Shuttle bus stops include:

  1. Wonderland;
  2. Revere Beach;
  3. Beachmont;
  4. Suffolk Downs;
  5. Orient Heights;
  6. Wood Island; and
  7. the Airport

Normal service is schedule to resume Monday morning.

The Orient Heights Station has been closed since March, forcing Blue Line trains to bypass the station. The MBTA expects construction to be completed in the Spring of 2014.

Construction includes the installation of a new overhead walking bridge, four elevators, two escalators, new mechanical and power systems, a renovated Train Operations Building, new platforms, and improved bus access areas.

Barletta Heavy Division was awarded the project’s $30 million contract in October 2011. The company has handled 12 other MBTA projects.
