Monday

Dinners on Demand: Cook 5 Meals in 1 Night – 6 to 9 p.m. – BCAE – Learn new recipes for limiting stress on the weeknights (while still avoiding the takeout menu), and head home with 5 meals for the week on hand with this class at BCAE, led by instructor Dustin Rennells.

Tuesday

Innovation and the City – October 7 & 8 – District Hall – Hosted by The Venture Café Foundation, Innovation and the City brings together scholars, policy makers and practitioners to discuss the benefits, drawbacks and strategies of an innovation-driven urban economy. Join the discussion and RSVP.

The Biggest Baby Shower Ever – 6 p.m. – Back Bay Convention Center – Presented by Big City Moms, the Biggest Baby Shower Ever event is coming to Boston for the first time. Parents-to-be will find the largest congregation of baby products, which they can touch, feel and test to get an idea of what they want in their first home.

Oysteria, Mamma Mia – 6:30 p.m. – Legal Oysteria – Legal Sea Food’s Oyster Festival will officially come to a close on Tuesday with the Oysteria, Mamma Mia event in Charlestown. Guests will get a lesson in discerning oyster flavor profiles as they shuck and sip different varieties on the half shell. Prepared oysters will also be served. Tickets are $35 per person.

Be Gritsy Event: Vinyasa Flow Tuesday – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. – Factory 63 – For $10 you can strengthen and stretch with one of Boston’s most versatile fitness groups. Join Emily McLaughlin for this fun class! Tickets available here. – Approved by Caroline Earle

Wednesday

50 on Fire Meetup: Dining/Retail & Arts/Entertainment – 6 to 9 p.m. – Lincoln Tavern – We’re hosting our second 50 on Fire meetup of the season this Wednesday in South Boston, and all dining, retail and arts and entertainment nominees, former winners, judges and community members are invited to attend, as well as those who want to network with them. Get your tickets below, and we’ll see you at the Lincoln Tavern on Wednesday.

Boston Fashion Week Style Swap – 5:30 to 9 p.m. – Julep Bar – Clean out your closet and bring your gently used items to Julep Bar for BFW’s third annual Style Swap. After donating your own items, you can shop others’ clothing and accessories and revamp your wardrobe in the process. The swap is one-for-one, and all left over clothing will be donated to charity. This year, the event will also include a fashion show from Rags to Brags.

Paint and Pour Party – 6:30 p.m. – Ester – Head to Ester in Dorchester for a Paint and Pour Party with The Pour Artist, a South Shore-based company that hosts guided painting sessions. The night will be complemented by Ester’s seasonal fall menu.

New England Revolution Fashion Show – 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. – BOND at the Langham Hotel – As part of Boston Fashion Week, players from the New England Revolution will model designs from British label Boden alongside their wives and girlfriends. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Ellie Fund, a local organization raising money to support women battling breast cancer. Tickets start at $25.

Oktoberfest Der Beehive – 7:30 p.m. – The Beehive – For the Oktoberfest season, The Beehive will serve Bavarian and German food and drinks, and the Bavarian Hofbrau Band will be performing starting at 7:30 p.m. No cover.

Thursday

The Lawn on D Presents: Illuminus D – October 9-12 – The Lawn on D – This three-day spectacle of light, sound and projection art, created by Materials & Methods with Nuit Blanche New York, will light up the night sky at The Lawn on D this weekend. Get a look at technology and art like you’ve never seen it before. (Pictured.)

Mad in America International Film Festival – October 9-12 – Regent Theatre – Mad in America, a local organization that provides a forum for those interested in rethinking the way we talk about mental health and psychiatric care, is hosting an international film festival starting this Thursday in Arlington. The festival will feature film makers, panel discussions, and productions.

3rd Annual Boston Winter Film Festival – October 9-11 – Simons IMAX Theater at the New England Aquarium – If you have time this weekend (and don’t lie, you probably do), then definitely check out the third annual Winter Film Festival at the Simons IMAX Theater in the New England Aquarium. It runs from Thursday through Saturday, with tons of quality productions playing for your entertainment. Depending on the ticket you buy, you can get cool perks, like some free drinks for the film, and also lift tickets! – Approved by Hayden Bird
