When the weekend weather makes you feel like it’s still summer, even after fall has officially started, a gloomy Monday morning is only appropriate. With September coming to and end and October just around the corner, though, it’s time to embrace autumn. Here’s how to do so this week in Boston.

Monday

National Coffee Day – September 29 – Various locations – While every day might as well be National Coffee Day, today’s the day we officially celebrate our morning brews. To add to the fun, places like Dunkin’ Donuts, Peet’s, McDonald’s and Boston Common Coffee Co. are giving out free coffees all day long. Get the details here.

Football, Pies and Pils – 7 to 11:30 p.m. – Stoddard’s – Stoddard’s in the Financial District will be open for the first time on a Monday night in honor of tonight’s Patriots game. KO Catering and Pies and Notch Brewing Co will be bringing the food and drinks as New England takes on Kansas City. A $20 ticket gets you a brisket meat pie and a beer.

Tuesday

First Abroad Gap on Tap – 5 to 8 p.m. – Sunset Grill & Tap – Gap years of travel aren’t just for college students, and First Abroad wants to spread that notion. The local company that facilitates travel years for people aged 18-30 is hosting an information session and mixer at Sunset Grill & Tap on Tuesday, along with Blue Hill Brewery. InquisEATive: Jacob Wirth – 6 to 8 p.m. – Jacob Wirth – InquisEATive, the local company that helps you discover the best of a restaurant’s menu at a fixed price, is taking diners to Jacob Wirth this Tuesday night to try the historical restaurant’s German fare. Diners will have the choice of one appetizer and two entrees, with prices starting at $30.

Boston Girl Geek Dinner 14 – 6 to 9 p.m. – O’Reilly Media – Hosted by O’Reilly Media in Cambridge, join this meetup for food, cupcakes, icebreakers, speakers, networking and some DIY comic book panels. There’s limited tickets left, so grab one quick here. – contributed by Shannon Nargi

RUNFELLOW 1st Birthday Beer Bash – 7 to 11 p.m. – Aeronaut Brewing Company – This Somerville startup focuses on performance gear as well as creating a community of athletes. Unique Champagne Pairing Dinner – 7 p.m. – Clio Restaurant – Clio’s Chef Ken Oringer, Uni’s Chef Tony Messina and Pastry Chef Monica Glass will join forces this Tuesday night for a champagne pairing dinner consisting of five expertly crafted courses paired with Billecart-Salmon Champagnes. Wednesday

Boston Design Market 2014 – October 1 & 2 – Boston Design Center – Join the Boston Design Center for its capstone event, the Boston Design Market, which the center describes as a “reimagined fall market.” There will be 50 showroom events, panel discussions, workshops, product launches, open houses and more. Additionally, the Boston Design Market trunk show will be running all week, from September 29 to October 3.

Boston Social Athletes October Social – 6:30 p.m. – John Harvard’s Brewery & Ale House – Drinks, socializing and a room full of fitness junkies, what could be better? These monthly meet ups are not to be missed. – contributed by Caroline Earle

Designers and Geeks Boston Social Mixer – 7 p.m. – Meadhall – Join this social meetup open to everyone interested in startups, technology, design, art, and anything geeky. Pop-Up Oktoberfest – 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. – Bergamot – Celebrate a late-night Oktoberfest at Bergamot in Somerville this Wednesday with a trio of sausages created and served up by Chefs Keith Pooler, Dan Bazzinotti and Scott Schuyler. There will also be plenty of German beer to wash it all down. Tickets are $15.

Thursday

Top Dog Direct Speed Pitch: Boston – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Hynes Convention Center – Top Dog Direct, the marketing company responsible for many ‘As Seen on TV’ campaigns, is hosting a speed pitch in Boston this Thursday. Inventors will be given 60 seconds to pitch their products to Top Dog executives, for the chance to have their product marketed on TV. The speed pitch is part of the Small Business Expo taking place this Thursday.

Startup Rounds: Consumer Product Meetup and Happy Hour – 6 to 8 p.m. – WeWork – Get to know local entrepreneurs and their products, as well as the Startup Rounds community for those building companies. There will be drinks and mingling.

BJ Novak Reading and Book Signing – 6 p.m. – Brattle Theater – BJ Novak will be hosting a reading from his first kids book “The Book With No Pictures” this Thursday at the Brattle Theater, as well as a book signing. Tickets are $21 and include the book, available online only. Kids tickets are $5.

Afterwork Thursday: Girls Night Out Edition – 6 to 9 p.m. – Gem Italian Bar & Kitchen – This Thursday, Gem’s weekly celebration will be Girls Night Out themed, including promotions from Royal Jewelers like gift cards and more.

Sip, Slurp and Sup – 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Legal Sea Foods Park Square – The 2014 Legal Sea Foods Oyster Festival continues this week with the second installment of ‘Sip, Slurp and Sup,’ a four-course dinner that incorporates oysters in all different forms.

Haymakers for Hope Presents: Belles of the Brawl II – 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Royale – Nonprofit organization Haymakers for Hope will host its second all-female boxing charity event this Thursday at Royale. Twenty women will enter the ring to fight in support of the cure for breast cancer, and to raise money for the cause.
