Happy Halloweekend! It may feel as though the Halloween festivities started a long time ago, and that’s because they have. However, the real deal is finally here, meaning we’re all in for a spooky weekend. Hopefully you already have your costume in order (if not, we’re here to help), and can make plans stress free.

Ready for a good, old-fashion scary time? Read on for this weekend’s events. (Starred events are Halloween events that aren’t listed in the Halloween event guide published on October 24.)

Friday

*Doggone Halloween – 12 to 2 p.m. – Downtown Crossing – Hosted by Downtown Boston BID and Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), Doggone Halloween invites the pups of Boston to Downtown Crossing for a Halloween parade. Dress up your dog and take part. A panel of judges will be determining the costume winners.

*BU Physics 10th Annual Pumpkin Drop – 12:30 p.m. – Metcalf Science Center – Not only will pumpkins be dropping from the sky, but there will be Halloween treats, a pumpkin decorating contest, and a costume contest all at BU’s annual Pumpkin Drop. Free to attend.

Halloween Extravaganza – 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. – Aeronaut Brewing Company – Join Aeronaut and the Somerville Symphony Orkestar for a Halloween Extravaganza party with plenty of beer, live music and food trucks. Free to attend, but a $10 donation is appreciated.

Crawl-o-Ween Bar Crawl Day 1 – 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. – Tia’s – Join Boston VIP List for a Halloween Bar Crawl that starts at Tia’s on the Waterfront and stops at spots like The Place, Mija Cantina and Cheers. Tickets are $10.

Transylvania Halloween Night – 5 p.m. – Pier 6 – Pier 6’s menu will be transformed to feature Transylvanian fare like goulash and apple tart, inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. A Halloween cocktail dance party will follow dinner; costumes are encouraged. No cover charge.

Dine in the Dark – 6 to 9 p.m. – The Hampshire House – If Halloween parties aren’t your thing, you can still partake in the spookiness with Dine in the Dark, Boston’s first dark dining experience. A four course meal, music and a complementing story will bring together the experience, which will take place entirely in the dark at the Beacon Hill mansion, The Hampshire House. Tickets are $72.40 and include everything but alcohol.

*Being a Grownup Isn’t Scary – 7 to 9 p.m. – Society of Grownups – The newly opened Society of Grownups in Brookline welcomes guests to a free night of scary movies, food, drinks and Halloween candy. Reserve your spot online ahead of time and be sure to wear a costume.

Halloween on the Harbor – 7 to 10 p.m. – Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center – Spend your Halloween trick or treating adult style, at this bar and restaurant hop that will offer up treats from Boston’s restaurants and bars. Must be wearing a costume, of course. Tickets are $5.

Halloween Bike Ride – 7:30 p.m. – Copley Place – This costumed bike ride will start in Copley Place and go 10-12 miles before ending up in Allston for an after party at Wonder Bar. Free to attend.

Boston Ballet’s Black and White Masquerade – 7:30 p.m. – Boston Opera House – For a classy Halloween, don your black or white and head to the Opera House for a “Black Swan” performance and masquerade. Masks will be handed out at the performance. Tickets start at $29.

*Funkin’ Punkin’ Halloween – 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. – TT the Bear’s Place – TT’s in Central Square is hosting a Halloween dance party with live music tributes to The Ramones, Salt N’ Pepa, Primus and more. Tickets are $10.

*Nevermore: An Evening with Edgar Allen Poe – 8 p.m. – Somerville Theater – Head to the Somerville Theater for a different type of scare – one orchestrated by the workings of Edgar Allen Poe, the master of macabre. Jeffrey Combs will be playing the poet in a one-night-only Halloween production. Tickets are $35.

Nightmare in Union Square – 8 p.m. – Brass Union – Brass Union’s first Halloween party will combine tricks and treats (like Halloween themed foods and cocktails), a dance party with DJ Madsol-Desar, and a costume contest into one event. No cover charge.

Mansion Party – 8 p.m. – Emerald Lounge – Three different rooms means three different themes at Emerald’s Mansion Party: Burlesque, Hospital and Jailhouse. Sounds freaky. No cover charge.

*Eat, Drink and Be Scary – 8 p.m. – Tico – Head to Tico for tapas, Patron and a costume contest. Tickets are $35.

BSSC’s Halloween Party – 8:30 p.m. – The Living Room – Join Boston Ski and Sports Club for a Halloween Party at The Living Room, complete with a costume contest that will award a total of $750 in cash prizes. There will be drink specials, a DJ, giveaways and more. Tickets start at $15.

*Haunted Chocolate Factory – 9 p.m. – Royale – Head to Royale for a DJ dance party in costume – they’ll be hosting the largest costume contest in the city with over $5,000 in cash prizes. Tickets are $25.

*Halloween Fundraiser and Costume Ball – 9 p.m. – Crossroads Irish Pub – Celebrate Halloween in your costume while helping raise money for Horizons for Homeless Children, an organization that helps provide homeless children with the opportunity to learn and play. Tickets are $20 and include free appetizers and a one-hour open bar.

Alec Mac Music and Costume Contest – 9 p.m. – Loretta’s Last Call – For night two of the Halloween Hoedown Weekend, head to Loretta’s for Alec Mac Music and a costume contest.

Haunted Mansion – 9 p.m. – The Greatest Bar – Get dressed up and head to The Greatest Bar for their annual Halloween party and costume contest, which could win you $500 in cash. $10 cover.

*BOOnanza to Benefit Italian Home for Children – 9 p.m. – MJ O’Connors Park Plaza – Head to MJ’s for a costume party, contest, raffle and more Halloween fun to benefit the Italian Home for Children. Tickets are $10 with a costume, $20 without.

Halloween Ball – 9 p.m. – The Lansdowne – Bearfight will perform at The Lansdowne for this Halloween party complete with a costume contest, part of the Halloween Blowout Weekend.

SBS’s Halloween Bash – 9 p.m. – Warehouse Bar and Grill – Presented by Deep Eddy Vodka and Magic Hat, join Social Boston Sports for a Halloween party costume contests, prizes, a dance party and more. Tickets are $30.

Fear at Revere 2 – 9 p.m. – Space 57 at the Revere Hotel – Freaky performers, spooky visuals and LED light show, plus a DJ dance party make up this Halloween bash at Space 57. Tickets are $15.

Vanyaland Halloween – 9 p.m. – Great Scott – Head to Great Scott for a cover show, costume party and dance night, presented by Vanyaland. Vary Lumar will perform as Smashing Pumpkins, The Daily Pravda with guest Ruby Rose Fox will perform as as Lana Del Rey, and Pale Hands will perform as as Robyn. Tickets are $10.

Dyke Night Presents: 16th Annual Raven Halloween Ball – 9 p.m. – Milky Way Lounge – Head to Jamaica Plain’s MilkyWay Lounge for the Raven Halloween Ball, co-sponsored by the GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project. There will be a dance party, costume contest, cocktails, and free tarot card readings. Tickets are $15.

District Howl Halloween – 9 p.m. – District Hall – Music by Never in Vegas, Halloween treats, and a $500 prize for best costume will come together for District Hall’s Halloween party in the Seaport, presented by Bacardi. Tickets are now $10.

Bowlloween 2014 – 9 p.m. – Lucky Strike – Let the good times “roll” (get it) at Jillian’s and Lucky Strike for a unique Halloween/bowling party. There will also be a costumed dance party, presented by Made Nightlife. Tickets are $15.

Goosebumps at Good Life – 9:30 p.m. – Good Life – Part of Good Life’s annual weeklong Haunted House is Goosebumps, a deadly Halloween dance party, featuring a $666 costume contest, Monster Blood shots, and multiple DJs. Tickets are $10.

Halloween Bash and Costume Contest – 10 p.m. – ZuZu – Dance all night at this Eclectic Dance Party Spectacular featuring the Whiskey Barons at ZuZu. A costume contest will take place for the most creative partier. Tickets are $5.

Halloween Extravaganza – 10 p.m. – Tavern Road – Proceeds from Tavern Road’s Halloween party will benefit Boston Youth Sanctuary, so dance all night (in a costume) for a good cause. Tickets are $25.

Saturday

South Boston Open Studios – November 1 & 2 – The Distillery, 555 Gallery, King Terminal – South Boston’s artists will open their studio doors this weekend to share their work and spaces with the public. Meet the artists and get to know the Southie art scene over the weekend at three different studio locations.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama Public Talk: Educating the Heart and Mind – 9:30 a.m. – TD Garden – Hosted by the Tibetan Association of Boston, the Dalai Lama will be giving a talk at the TD Garden on educating the heart and mind. Tickets start at $30.

Sneakergreet x Sneaker Social Pop Up II – 12 to 6 p.m. – Sneakergreet – This pop-up sneaker show will include limited edition kicks, brands and stores, inviting everyone to come and buy, sell and trade, complemented by drinks and a DJ. Tickets are $15.

Halloween Crawl with Crawl in Boston – 12 to 7 p.m. – Faneuil Hall – Enjoy drink specials and lots of swag with Crawl in Boston’s Faneuil Hall Halloween Bar Crawl. Tickets are $30.

4th Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration – 1 to 6 p.m. – Taza Chocolate Factory – Live music, a Slumbrew beer garden, food trucks, special treats and more will all go down at the Taza Chocolate Factory. Costumes are strongly encouraged.

Boilermaker Bar Crawl: Boston Edition – 2:30 to 7 p.m. – Deep Ellum – Join Lew Bryson, the author of “Tasting Whiskey: An Insider’s Guide to the Unique Pleasures of the World’s Finest Spirits” and Lauren Clark, author of “Crafty Bastards: Beer in New England from the Mayflower to Modern Day” for a four whiskey bar crawl through Deep Ellum, Eastern Standard, Stoddard’s and State Park. Free to attend.

Allston Costume Crawl – 4 to 9 p.m. – White Horse Tavern – Kick off at White Horse Tavern in Allston and travel to six different bars in costume for drink specials, presented by BarUp and Magic Hat. Tickets are $5.

*Game of Thrones Halloween Party to Benefit Rosie’s Place – 7 to 11 p.m. – Back Bay Harry’s – Hosted by NECN’s Nelly Carreno, Back Bay Harry’s Game of Thrones themed Halloween party will benefit Rosie’s Place, the organization that helps homeless and poor women. There will be signature drinks like pitchers of Grog, an auction, and a costume contest. Game of Thrones will also be playing on the TVs.

Halloween For Hope – 9:30 p.m. – The Place – Presented by The Slater Founation to benefit the Ellie Fund, carry on the Halloween celebrations for a good cause at The Place. Tickets are $45 and include appetizers.

Sunday

Halloween Hangover Brunch – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Commonwealth – Tuckered out from all the Halloween festivities? Head to Commonwealth in Cambridge for a hangover brunch, complete with Fried Bat Wings, Monster Hash, and other Halloween twists.

Boston Bridal Bash – 12 to 4 p.m. – Sheraton Hotel – Meet vendors, get ideas, and prepare to plan your wedding at the Boston Bridal Bash, which includes raffles and prizes.

Outdoor Tailgate – 2:30 p.m. – Sky – Head to Sky in Arlington for a festive outdoor tailgate for Sunday’s Patriots game. Chef Andy DiPace will be serving up sausages, sliders, ribs, steak tips and more and Sam Adams will be on deck with five different varieties of beer. There will also be quarterly trivia during the tailgate, during which guests can win gift cards.

12th Annual New England Patriots Game Day Tailgate Fundraiser – 3 to 8 p.m. – McGladrey Charlestown – Support the Boys and Girls Club of Boston’s financial and youth programming goals by heading to a tailgate-style fundraiser. Tickets start at $75 and include food and drink on game day.
