It’s a brand new year, and hopefully, your New Year’s resolution was to spend more time taking advantage of all the cool things happening in Boston. And if so, consider us your guiding light. Here’s what’s happening in Boston the first weekend of 2015.

Friday

Dunkin’ Donuts Kick Off Blood Drive – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Patriot Place Activity Center – Dunkin’ Donuts is kicking off National Volunteer Blood Donor Month with Red Cross and Boston Marathon survivor Heather Abbott. Anyone who donates blood will receive a $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card, and will be entered to win Patriots tickets.

SoWa First Friday – 5 to 9 p.m. – SoWa – On the first Friday of the month, SoWa opens up its galleries and shops for the public to browse, with the artists on deck to talk about their work. Free to attend.

MFA First Friday – 6 to 9:30 p.m. – MFA – Enjoy cocktails, music and collaboration at the MFA’s monthly First Friday event. Tickets are $25 for non-members.

NYE Hangover Pajama Party – 10 p.m. – Royale – Tired of getting dressed up and going out? Royale is hosting a Friday night pajama party so you can still get out there without going all out. Cover is $15.

Winter on D Fire and Ice Festival – January 2-4 – Lawn on D – Rescheduled from last week, the Lawn on D is hosting a Fire and Ice Festival that combines both elements into a weekend long spectacle. During the day, there will be an ice labrynth, daytime activities and more. At night, fire art performers will put on a show. Learn more about the festival here.

Snip and Save – January 2-31 – Salon Mario Russo – During the month of January, Mario Russo is encouraging ladies to get fresh new cuts. Salon guests will receive 20 percent off their cut for chopping 2 inches, 30 percent off for 3 inches, 40 percent off for 4 inches and 50 percent off for 5 inches. New year, new ‘do!

Saturday

Snowflake Festival 2015 – 12 to 4 p.m. – Brookline Arts Center – Brookline Arts Center is hosting a Snowflake Festival and open house on Saturday with free demonstrations and art making activities. The event is perfect for people considering becoming BAC members.

Sunday

The Wedding of Your Dreams Bridal Show – 12 to 3 p.m. – Hyatt Regency – Planning a wedding? This Sunday’s bridal show caters to all budgets and styles, and brides will be entered to win raffles.
