Friday

Free Art for the Taking – 4 to 7 p.m. – Design Museum Boston – Moo.com has teamed up with local artist Rob Lowe to give out 600 free pieces of signed and limited edition of art to those who visit the museum’s location at 70 East India Row. The artwork will be one of the six “complimentary” flyers designed by Lowe.

First Fridays: White Hot – 5 to 10 p.m. – ICA – Sip frozen pina coladas, enjoy oysters from an Island Creek Oyster Bar pop up and dance to the jams from DJ Jubilee and more at the ICA’s monthly First Friday party, with the theme White Hot. Tickets are $15 for non-members.

MFA First Fridays – 6 to 9:30 p.m. – MFA – Head to the MFA for music, cocktails, mingling and dancing at August’s First Friday party. Tickets are $25 for non-members.

BKBday Party – 7 p.m. – Brooklyn Boulders Somerville – Celebrate one year of Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville with a climbing competition, food and drink from Aeronaut Brewing, and music from local band Viva Viva and more. Free to attend, must register to compete.

Mexican Pop Up Restaurant – 7 p.m. – Kitchen Inc. – Hosted by Kitchen Inc. and the Somerville Arts Council, this Mexican pop up dinner will let you eat, cook and learn from esteemed chef Estela Calzada. Tickets are $60.

OpenAir Circus – August 1-3 – Conway Field – The OpenAir Circus will be hosting its 29th annual festival at Conway Field in Somerville this weekend with a Haunted Circus theme. Suggested donation is $3 and performances will run every night at 7 p.m., with an afternoon performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday

R.O.C. Race – 7:30 a.m. – Gillette Stadium – This game-show inspired obstacle course/race is going down at Gillette on Saturday, and registration is still open. Racers will run through 12 giant obstacles like the Wrecking Ball, Jump Balls and the world’s largest Inflatable Waterslide. There are waves of start times available between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., and the cost is $71.

Red, White & Brew Summerfest – 12, 3:30 and 7 p.m. – Cyclorama – Hosted by Boston Event Guide, this afternoon event combines beer and wine into one tasting session with great discounts. There are three sessions: 12 to 2:30, 3:30 to 6 and 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $59, $69 after Friday

Unofficial Katy Perry After Party – 9 p.m. – The Greatest Bar – Katy Perry’s coming to town on Saturday, and you’ll need a place to party in her honor, whether or not you actually go to her concert or not. Head to the unofficial after party at The Greatest Bar for drink specials and lots of tunes.

SomDog Pet Palooza – August 2-3 – Assembly Row – Got a dog? Then bring ’em to Pet Palooza this weekend at Assembly Row, where SomDog will be waiting with treats, activities like a dock-diving competition, and Slumbrew beers (for you). The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Sunday

Lobstah Boil and Brew Fest – 12 to 6 p.m. – Hopsters – Hopsters in Newton is hosting a lobster boil paired with a beer fest on Sunday afternoon. There will be a specialty ale brewed for the occasion before the lobsters are boiled in their specialty kettles. One ticket, $65, includes two beers and a lobster dinner.

Jazz at the Fort: Jaleel Shaw Quartet – 5 to 7 p.m. – Fort Hill/Highland Park – Berklee’s annual Jazz at the Fort concert is back on Sunday with Jaleel Shaw Quartet. The free concert will run from 5 to 7 p.m. in Roxbury’s Highland Park.

Whole Lamb Dinner – 6:30 p.m. – Tavern Road – Head to Tavern Road this Sunday night for a whole lamb roast. Tickets are $100 and include four Angel’s Envy Bourbon drinks, lamb dinner, sides, hors d’oeuvres and dessert.
